Presence - A Review

ALBUM - Presence by Petit Biscuit Hello my lovely readers! It’s another album review today, but from a completely different genre, so if grungy stompy music wasn’t your thing, perhaps Petit Biscuit will be more up your street. Yes, today’s review is of Petit Biscuit’s debut album Presence . Now I will admit before I even begin that I am relatively new to this genre of music and don’t know all the different branches of techno and EDM. I’m aware that EDM and techno are not the same after having been severely judged by lots of my friends who know a great deal more than I do, but honestly that is as far as my limited knowledge goes. So I am intrigued to see where this review takes me and whether I can do this album justice. Wish me luck! I have been in love with Petit Biscuit’s sound for well over a year now, I force practically everyone I meet to listen to my absolute favourite song Sunset Lover , and then of course judge them based on their opinion of the best song ever created. I...

The Halfway (ish) Point

ALBUM - Divorce by JPNSGRLS Hi guys! I guess it’s not so surprising that I’m still here now that this is my fourth blogpost. Today, I have decided to write about my year abroad experience and what I think of Catania so far. After having done some rough (very rough) calculations, I have figured that I am about halfway through my scheduled time here. I thought that that was a pretty decent amount of time to work on for a post. Hopefully I’ll do another at the end of my time here and compare from then to now. So, a little background information. For those of you who are too lazy to go on to Wikipedia, I did it for you. Catania is the second biggest city in Sicily (the football to the boot that is Italy), it is said to be the Milan of the south which I honestly find laughable. Italy is the official language but since I have been here, I have picked up some words of Sicilian as well - most of them not overly helpful and more on the offensive side. Catania is a port town and so it is ...

Visions of a Life - A Review

ALBUM - Visions of a Life by Wolf Alice Thought I would try something different this week. As I hope I made clear in my first post, music is an integral part of my life. I have a playlist for everything. And I thought as part of my blogging journey, I would like to involve my greatest interest. So today, I am going to try my hand at an album review - Wolf Alice’s second record: Visions of a Life. One thing I hoped not to do, but was unable to stop myself from doing, was comparing this album to their first album: My Love is Cool which I enjoyed immensely. What in my opinion was a marvelously crafted first album left them with big boots to fill for their follow up. Some of the songs from Visions of a Life certainly did live up to expectation, while other parts of the album left me feeling a little (but only slightly) disappointed… Track Listing: Heavenward Yuk Foo Beautifully Unconventional Don’t Delete the Kisses Planet Hunter Sky Musings Formidable Cool...

Rome and Back Again: a Drunkard’s Tale

ALBUM - Westway (The Glitter & The Slums) by Sticky Fingers I’m back! I know, I surprised myself too. Let’s get right to it shall we? Today, I would like to share with you (or at least try to) the tales of my two weeks travelling in central Europe. Normally, when I go on holiday with friends I will keep a week-long diary in my phone for me to read back on the memories. This time I decided that annoyingly long Snapchat stories would suffice. My travelling pal and best friend of 15 years, Emily, tends to black out when drunk, so a standard morning-after activity is jogging her memory of the night’s antics with my Story. Now imagine that for two weeks straight: I’m pretty sure she remembers less than 50% of our time in Europe. So I dedicate this post to her, so that she might remember more. After a mere 5 days in Catania I jetted off to Rome to meet Emily. We were staying in a hostel where we met our partners in crime for the next three days, Zara and Jojo. Now, my dear reader...
