A weekend in Milan

SONG: Not by Big Thief Hi everyone! I know it's been a good while since I posted. I've just been doing a bit of travelling and the rest of my time is spent either teaching or planning lessons. Being a primary school teacher is a lot of work!  Today I'm writing about my recent trip to Milan where I visited my aunt and cousin. Fortunately as we went around the city I kept a handy note of everywhere we went, so hopefully the memories should come flooding back and a half-decent blogpost will emerge! We can at least hope... Rooftop Cocktail Experience I took the train from Turin to Milan and met my aunt and cousin at the hotel we were staying - Il Duca (part of the ME range). It was a very classy place and we arrived to a bottle of Prosecco and some Halloween biscuits in our room as well as a complimentary cocktail tasting for our first evening on their rooftop bar (oowee).  We did our best to dress nicely for the bar (although my aunt and cousin had been up sine 4 and I...

SONG: Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You) by Bombay Bicycle Club I’m back! This week I thought I’d talk about some unmissable spots and amazing finds that I have come across so far in Turin. So without further ado, this is my list of top bars and restaurants in Turin… Bars... 1. During the late afternoon and evening, this little bar also offers a very well-priced Apericena, which was a smorgasbord of nibbles and canapes to enjoy with your drink. The culture of Apericena is rife in Turin, most bars offer a drink with as many returns to the finger fo...

ALBUM - OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 2017 by Radiohead It’s been a good while since I have posted as I wanted to focus on my final year of studies at Edinburgh. I have now finished my studies and have moved to drumroll please… Turin! In my final year of university, I applied for a place as an English Language Assistant in either Spain or Italy. I got placed in Italy and then finally in June I found out I was coming to Turin in the Piemonte region. As you can all imagine the first stint here has been a whirlwind of emotions and struggles with the all too familiar Italian bureaucracy, but I’m pleased to say that by the time I post this I will have done a whole month in Turin! I thought I would break my embarrassingly long hiatus from blogging with a post about what to do on a whistlestop tour of Turin. My best friend (and my very inspiration for having started blogging) Ciara came to visit me when I first got here and we had the most amazing 2 and a bit days exploring the city. So here...
